About Good news!

At Good News Café, the name isn’t just a catchy phrase — it’s our mission. Rooted in faith, fueled by purpose, and stirred with a deep love for people (and coffee), this café exists to serve more than just drinks. Inspired by the words of Jesus, “The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,” our heart is to reflect His love in everything we do — creating a space where everyone is welcomed, valued, and embraced with grace.

We’re not just another coffee shop. We’re a ministry disguised as a café — a place where faith meets flavor, and community meets calling. Our desire is to serve excellent, thoughtfully crafted coffee while sharing the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. Everything we do is rooted in the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We hold tightly to the truth of John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believed in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” That’s the Good News we’re sharing- the hope that changes everything.

At Good News Cafe, you don’t need to have it all together- none of us do. We’re all sinners saved by grace, and only God is truly good. That’s why Good News Café is a “come-as-you-are” kind of place, where real conversations, real faith, and real love happen — all over a really good cup of coffee.

Meet the Founder – Jesus Velazquez

My name is Jesus Velazquez, a first-generation Mexican-American raised in Houston, Texas. Though I didn’t grow up with a lot of material wealth, I was rich in the things that matter most: faith, family, and love. Thanks to my Mom, who instilled in me that God is always at the center of our home — shaping who I am today.

My love for coffee started early — not just because of the taste or aroma, but because of the moments it created. In our home, coffee time meant slowing down, gathering together, laughing, sharing stories, and being present. Something I still cherish to this day.

At 17, I got my first job at a major coffee chain and simultaneously began serving at my church’s coffee shop, Café 91 — a role I still
hold today. It was in those spaces that I discovered coffee could be more than a beverage; it could be a bridge. A warm cup could
offer comfort, spark a conversation, or become a moment of grace in someone’s day. That’s when I realized: coffee could be a tool
for ministry.

Since 2019, I’ve carried a dream in my heart — to create a coffee space that blends
excellence with intention, quality with calling. After years of learning, growing,
and waiting on God's perfect timing, that dream has come to life. With the unwavering
support, prayers, and encouragement of my incredible Mom — who believed in me
and this vision — and through the grace of God, Good News Café was born.
